Information about Access Services for our Patrons The Music Center welcomes all visitors and is committed to making its programs, services and facilities accessible to everyone.

For patrons with limited sight, low vision or who are blind we offer:

  • Audio-Description
    Audio description is carefully timed narration of onstage action broadcast via an inconspicuous FM receiver. Audio description is available at select performances. Audio described performances are offered simultaneously with Project D.A.T.E performances. Headset are available free of charge. Please call 213.628.2772.
  • Large Print Programs
    Large print programs may be available for performances. Please call the Access Line in advance to request accommodations. A 24- hour advance noticed is most appreciated.
  • Binoculars
    Binoculars are available at most performances for a nominal fee.

For patrons who are hard of hearing or deaf we offer:

  • Assistive Listening Devices
    (the Sennheiser FM system) headsets are available free of charge for performances in the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion and the Walt Disney Concert Hall. Please see a lobby attendant.
  • The Center Theatre Group (performances in the Ahmanson Theatre and the Mark Taper Forum) offers special services for the deaf and hard of hearing communities. Project D.A.T.E. (Deaf Audience Theatre Experience) presents pre-play discussions and sign language interpreted performances for audience members who are deaf or have hearing loss. Both Theatres utilize the Phonic Ear infrared assistive listening device system. Headsets are available free of charge in the lobbies of the theatres. American Sign Language Interpreted performances and open captioned performances may be available. Please inquire what services are offered at each performance at time of ticket purchase.

For patrons who have physical or mobility needs we offer:

  • Accessible Seating & Restrooms
    Accessible seating and restrooms in all four theatres as well as ramps and elevators in all public areas of the Music Center.
  • Wheelchair Seating
    Accommodations for persons in wheelchairs or persons with disabilities and their attendants or companions may be made by calling our access line. Please try to arrive at least 30 minutes early if you need help with access. Latecomers will be handled on an individual basis.
  • Seating Locations
    Areas for patrons in wheelchairs are available in the orchestra and third level (loge) of the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion and on all levels of the Ahmanson Theatre, the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion and the Walt Disney Concert Hall. In the Mark Taper Forum seating is accessible by means of a platform lift. Aisle seats may also be requested in any theatre.
  • Restrooms
    Fully accessible restrooms are available in each theatre. The Music Center Plaza has additional bathroom accommodations on the plaza to help ease the lines during intermissions. They are located on the Grand Avenue side of the plaza next to the Mark Taper Forum.

Getting to the Music Center Campus:

  • Ride Info Referral Line

  • Accessible Parking
    Accessible parking is available for vehicles displaying a valid, state-issued disability placard or license plate. Accessible parking is available at two locations - the Music Center garage between First and Temple and the Hope Street entrance of the Walt Disney Concert Hall.

    Accessible spaces are located in the garages at the Music Center. For modified vans more than 6'6" high, space is designed at the circular drive on the Hope street side of the Music Center Plaza.

  • Valet Parking
    Valet Service is available in two locations at the Music Center Campus. The Hope Street circular drive adjacent to the Plaza and Hope Street and Walt Disney Concert Hall. Wheelchairs are not provided. Accessible parking is $20 for vehicles displaying a valid, state-issued disability placard or license plate. Valet Service is available beginning at 5pm for evening concerts, two hours before weekday matinees and all day on weekends.
  • Parking Lot Escalators and Elevators
    Elevators from the Music Center Garage are located underneath the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion on the Grand Avenue side. Two escalators are located at the center of the garage on the Grand Avenue side leading up to the fountain area. A third escalator is located near the Ahmanson Theatre on the Hope Street side of the plaza. The escalators are programmed to move up prior to curtain and down starting at intermission. Elevators are also available in the Walt Disney Concert Hall garage.

  • Wheelchair Pickup
    Patrons attending a performance on the Music Center Plaza can call the Music Center Guest Services department at 213-972-0777, in advance, to reserve wheelchair pick-up.

Tour Accessibility:

  • Tours of Walt Disney Concert Hall are fully accessible. The tour includes three levels of the hall, garden and aerial pathway. Floor materials are a combination of carpeting, travertine and wood and visitors transition to areas using ramps and elevators.
  • The audio tour wands may be used with headsets for maximum listening ability. All wands are equipped with adjustable volume controls as well as wrist straps for easy use. The audio tour script is also available in large print upon advance request.
  • Fully accessible restrooms, including one family or unisex restroom are located in the lobbies. Accessible parking is $8 for vehicles displaying a valid, state-issued disability placard or license plate. Wheel chairs are not provided.
