| The Goin' South Band
Assembly:
A Journey South welcomes the audience to a home spun performance that includes foot stompin' Cajun music, Appalachian mountain tunes and Bluegrass, New Orleans street jazz, Zydeco music of the Creoles, bottleneck guitar, Cherokee Flute music as well as a host of other musical treats! Directed by John Zeretzke, A Journey South is a one-of-a-kind performance of music from the southeastern United States. The ensemble is composed of some of America's finest professional musicians and artist/educators trained in the skills and techniques of the musical arts and sciences. This fascinating exploration and educational program lets students learn, listen and clap along to the diverse music and instruments that became a way of life in America and formed new and innovative styles of music. It will open students' minds and hearts into the history and roots of American music and our own unique instruments from the south.
