| Rob Bowers - Music and Theatre
Workshop:
Singing! Acting! Movement! Rob Bowers, writer, director and composer, presents storytelling through musical theatre in a lively series of workshops that help develop individual and group performance skills, creative decision-making and self-confidence, both on and off stage. Students view clips of famous performances, hear music of many styles, read sample scripts, and are coached on rehearsal techniques as they prepare for a culminating musical performance. Vocal music workshops are also available. Bowers' workshops are especially effective in developing literacy.
Rob Bowers has been involved in over 200 theatre projects, serving as actor, director, writer, composer, musical director, choreographer and stage manager. Since 1970, he has been especially active in children's theatre, developing musical theatre workshops for students from Kindergarten through college. He has also written 24 original musicals for elementary school classes and presented thousands of school performances through "Rob Bowers and the Rock Salt Company", a company he founded in 1974. After graduating from the Los Angeles City College Theatre Academy, Mr. Bowers began working with the Los Angeles Philharmonic's music education programs, hosting and performing in Open House at the Hollywood Bowl and Symphonies for Youth. He continues to serve as Artistic Director for Burbank's Kids on Stage at the Starlight Bowl, an arts festival which he created for the City in 1992. Currently, Mr. Bowers is involved with projects for the Walt Disney Company, Paul Morse Productions and Davidson and Associates.
