24/1 RULES AND REQUIREMENTS

By entering this photo storytelling contest (the "Contest"), each entrant (the "Entrant") agrees to and warrants that his or her entry complies with all rules and requirements set forth below (the "Rules"):

How to Enter

  • The Contest is open to amateur photo storytellers that are legal residents of the United States and at least 18 years of age as of the date of entry in the Contest. Professional photographers and/or professional storytellers are not eligible for entry in the contest Each story entry consists of an entry form, not less than three (3) photographs and not more than eight (8) photographs. To enter, visit www.musiccenter.org complete an entry form with the required information, and submit your entry in accordance with the instructions that follow. All entries must be received before 11:59 p.m. Pacific Standard Time on May 15, 2012. One entry will be permitted per person.
  • Each photo story submitted and accompanying information about the story (the "Submission") must be an original work created solely by the Entrant based on the theme “24/1: “What’s On Your Plate Today?” and must have been taken by the Entrant within one continuous 24-hour period of time. Photographs which have previously been published or won an award in any contest are not eligible for submission to the Contest.
  • Only online entries will be eligible. The Submission must be in digital format and submitted online as .JPG files. Each photograph in the Submission must adhere to the following specifications: minimum resolution of 72 dpi, no more than 2000 pixels (width or height), file size may be up to 5 megabytes. No mail-in, print or film submissions will be accepted for entry into this Contest.
  • Submissions may not contain material that, in the sole discretion of the Music Center, violates or infringes another’s rights, including but not limited to privacy, publicity or intellectual property rights, or that constitutes copyright infringement, or that depicts advertising or promotions of any kind, or that contain or depict any objectionable, unlawful, defamatory, nude or sexually explicit, threatening, abusive, harassing, hateful, discriminatory, threatening, derogatory, or unnecessarily violent material, and may not in any way disparage persons or organizations associated with the Music Center. Any Submission may be disqualified from the Contest at the sole discretion of the Music Center.
  • By entering the Contest, the Entrant represents and warrants that the Entrant is at least 18 years of age, that the Submission constitutes an original work created solely by the Entrant, and does not infringe on the copyrights, trademarks, moral rights, privacy rights, publicity rights, or other intellectual property rights of any person or entity, and that no other party has any right, title, claim, or interest in the Submission.
  • By entering this Contest, the Entrant agrees to release and hold harmless the Music Center and each of its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any losses, damages, rights, claims or causes of action of any kind arising, in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, out of participation in the Contest or resulting directly or indirectly, from acceptance, possession, use, or misuse of the prize awarded in connection with the Contest, including without limitation personal injury, death, and/or property damage, as well as claims based on defamation and infringement of the copyrights, trademarks, moral rights, privacy rights, publicity rights, or other intellectual property rights of any person or entity.

License

  • By entering the Contest, the Entrant grants the Music Center a royalty-free, worldwide, perpetual, non-exclusive license to display, distribute, reproduce and create derivative works from the Submissions, in whole or in part, in any media now existing or subsequently developed, including, but not limited to, publication online or offline, display at a potential exhibition of select entries in the Contest, or publication in a program featuring select entries in the Contest, and/or for use in promotional, informational and editorial materials. Any part of the Submission reproduced will include a Entrant credit as feasible. The Music Center will not be required to pay any consideration or seek any additional approval in connection with such uses.

Releases

  • For any Submission in which a person is recognizable, upon Music Center’s request, the Entrant must be prepared to provide, within seven (7) calendar days of such request, a signed release from all persons who appear in such Submission authorizing the Music Center to reproduce, distribute, display, and create derivative works of the Submission in connection with the Contest and promotion of the Contest, in any media now or hereafter known. All releases must be in the form provided by Music Center, available at www.musiccenter.org. Failure to provide such releases upon request may result in disqualification from the Contest.

Judging and Prizes

  • Selected Submissions will be publicly displayed on the Music Center’s online photo gallery at www.musiccenter.org. The Submissions will be judged through public voting conducted by text messaging, telephone and/or online voting during the time period beginning at 12:00PM on May 22, 2012 and ending at 12:00PM on May 30, 2012. The Submissions receiving the highest number of votes during the voting period will be named the prize winners. If technical malfunctions or suspect voting/irregularities corrupt the voting process, the Music Center reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel or modify the Contest or to award prizes based solely on non-suspect votes or via a random drawing. Winners will be posted online no later than 12noon Pacific Standard Time on June 1, 2012. Winners do not need to be present to win.
  • Description of Prizes: Six prize winners will each receive: one $300 (Three Hundred Dollar) gift card from Samy’s Camera, plus a shared feature in a print publication. Prizes are subject to change.
  • All voting and prize decisions are final. Numbers of votes or any other information regarding voting results or rankings for any given Submission shall not be disclosed to any Entrant in the Contest or any other person or entity. Only one prize per person. Winners must sign an affidavit and release, and will be responsible for paying any taxes
  • they may owe on a prize. If potential prize winner cannot be reached, is found to be ineligible, and/or cannot or does not comply with Rules, he or she may be disqualified at sole discretion of the Music Center.
  • By participating in the Contest, the Entrant warrants that he or she fully and unconditionally agrees to and accepts these Rules and the decisions of the Music Center, which are final and binding in all matters related to the Contest THE CONTEST IS VOID WHERE PROHIBITED OR RESTRICTED BY LAW. No purchase necessary. Winners shall be solely responsible for payment of any taxes owed on prizes received through this contest. The Music Center has the sole right to interpret and apply these Rules as it sees fit, and may adopt, modify or revise the Rules at any time.
  • All employees, agents, and contractors of the Music Center and prize sponsors (including but not limited to Samy’s Camera), as well as their immediate family (spouse, parents, siblings and children) and household members of each such employee, are NOT eligible to enter or participate in the Contest.
